Albert Rüegg

Albert Rüegg was born in 1902 in Zurich and died there in 1986. From 1918 to 1922 he served an apprenticeship as a graphic designer at the printing company J.E. Wolfensberger and took evening courses at the Zurich School of Applied Arts with teachers such as Otto Baumberger and Ernst Keller. From 1922 to 1924, he studied at the Munich School of Applied Arts and then worked as a painter and graphic designer. He founded and co-edited the magazine “Volk & Kunst”. His works, including his posters, were very figurative and strongly influenced by expressionism, and his paintings were often composed of clear geometric or cubic shapes.
